This is my spin on both the maneki neko ("lucky cat" or "beckoning cat") and the Three Wise Monkeys ("Hear No Evil", "See No Evil", "Speak No Evil"). I love cats, I do... but a cat is perfect for this. They won't listen, won't look at you, and won't answer you. Not when it counts, anyway.

I chose the combinations of collar color, item being held, and which cat it is with certain things in mind:

The green collar is for good health. The fish is for strength. I put these on "Hear No" because I was thinking of being able to shut out all the noise of the world and just watch your fishing line.

The red collar is for luck with relationships... love, marriage, and other personal relationships. The bottle he has is a hyotan. It's a dried, hollowed out gourd used as a container for sake. Gourds are lucky, and often show up as hyotan. These are on "See No" because my mind went drifting. Sake... drinking. Drinking... love and social interactions. Being able to look past the little flaws in a person to maintain a harmonious relationship.

The black collar is for protection from unwanted/uninvited people hanging around. More like stalkers, not so much like sudden houseguests. This color is paired with the coin, for wealth. You know somebody "unwanted and uninvited" would show up and hang around if you became immensely wealthy! I put these on "Speak No" because knowing when to keep your mouth shut, or at least censor your own speech, seems like good advice for business.

I'm glad the notes on the process are interesting. I debated with myself over whether or not to include them, but I know I enjoy knowing where an artist's mind was when they created something.

very symbolic and metaphoric.

...now that I'm done commenting, I will go back to doing other important things. If you want, you can look at some of my works. If you do, I hope you take the time to say anything about my work.

Well, I'll see you again if I got any time to spare.

I like it. Also the thought process you put into this is very interesting :)
