The Paper Heart Movie Poster Contest asked us to express the theme "What Does Love Mean to Me?"
I drew on some of the many examples of love I've seen in my own life for inspiration. From my sister and her babies (who are no less "her babies" just because they were adopted) to my grandparents who were married for over fifty years, I have seen and been part of different types of relationships that are all full of love.
I folded simple origami hearts to fit the Do-It-Yourself, child-like innocence themes of love and someone making a documentary about looking for the definition of "love". The letters on the poster were handwritten to stick with that theme.
Not only do the stick figures fit the theme, but I used them to keep the love from being too tied to the people (and dog) depicted. Those stick figures could be anyone, and these types of love - and many others - happen in the lives of so many people every day.
